A number of progressive activities towards this output were implemented by linking the existing government service oriented organizations in the selected districts. Following activities can be highlighted as the best practices of this project.
Maintained Health Checks & Records
· Periodical Health & Nutrition profiles maintained with the collaboration of MOH
· Periodical height & weight checks & records obtained and recorded
· Dental and physical health checks were linked with the Public Health Inspectors
· Identification of mental / physical disabilities in school level were done by trained counseling teachers
· Identification of common deceases/ailments and Identification of Chronic infections were done be class teachers after receiving the project training
· Directing of treatment needed children were identified and directed to the district Ministry of Health office
· Provision of immunizations/vaccinations ensured
· Adequate facilities for sports & recreation facilitated to the children in schools
Feeding program
· Mobilized parents to provide “Midday Meal” program where applicable
· Linked WFP’s “Food for Education” program to the qualified schools
· Linked philanthropists for provision of mid day meal
· Nutritious vegetable plantation commenced in schools with the parent and community ownership sharing agreements.
School Hygiene program ·
. Maintains the hygienic conditions of the toilets with the help of "Quality Circles"
· Hygienic garbage disposal systems introduced and practices
· Practiced good health behaviors & disciplines by children under the supervision of trained teachers
Drinking water ·
. Provision of bacteria free safe drinking water (“Sodis” system) introduced ans some school practiced
· Provided pipe born safe drinking water using tube wells with the support of well-wishers
· Periodical well water condition were done with the help of respective Public Health Inspectors
· Provided filtered water for children in certain schools
Maintained Health & Nutrition Profile
· Protein deficiency, Iodine deficiency , Iron deficiency, Vitamin A deficiency and Calcium deficiency of the children were monitored periodically and made arrangement to provide necessary remedies.
